My next Blitz Grade

Today I have been reflecting on an incredible concert I attended yesterday and am still buzzing. It was the Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra with a very special violinist! I can report Sofia Demetriades (age 17) and the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto are the perfect match. Legendary violinist Leopold Auer who the work was written for deemed it unplayable and shelved it. Not the case here. It’s a work that shows off brilliantly what Sofia is all about - a very special blend of virtuosity and exquisite musicianship. So intensely musical. Beautiful phrasing. Such precision. Elegant. Powerful. Next stop BBC Young Musician of the Year Quarter Finals.
I took a sneaky video:)
I’m incredibly proud of this very special musician I have had the great pleasure of working with (GCSE and A level Music) over the last 3 years.

Ayesha Pocock (age 13) is one of my talented A level students and was in action on Saturday performing the Bruch Violin Concerto No.1. It was her first experience performing an entire concerto with an orchestra and she smashed it x Ayesha apparently was so excited afterwards she didn’t want to go to bed 😀 Really impressive playing. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ayesha now for three years. GCSE Music to begin with (Grade 9), then Grade 8 Music Theory (distinction) and will take A level Music next year. Wait for it though, on top of all this she has grade 8 distinction in three instruments, a diploma in violin (distinction) and is taking a diploma in piano in a few weeks 😮 ... See MoreSee Less
